Appliances in the kitchen have gone contemporary! Everything has been redesigned to make life-in-the-kitchen easier and more efficient. Exhaust fans under colorful hoods over the kitchen range remove the grime and dirt as well as unpleasant smoke and cooking odors. In the more modern kitchen, the old range-oven combination has been dis-placed by counter-top ranges and built-in ovens. Automatic devices practically make the kitchen run itself.
What about colour? Well what we are seeing is that the range of colours now being offered in kitchens has grown hugely over the last year. Designers and homeowners are becoming more adventurous when choosing cabinet colours with many now opting for subtle colours, especially in contemporary and modern designs. Subtle colours could be in the way of gloss or matt doors in a modern kitchen or even warm wood textures. Of course, mixing both paint colours and wood textures is a massive trend at the moment and is only going to gain in popularity. For classical and traditional kitchen styles, off white painted kitchens are still popular but other bolder colours are coming through, especially when mixed with softer colours. For solid wood kitchens, oak and walnut are still going to be as popular as ever.
Our kitchen planner also asked us to consider a choice of useful options of light boxes. These really have been an excellent decorative addition to the kitchen. The light boxes are in the shape of deep shelving, emitting light throughout the entire shelf both above and below each box. By adding two of these, one above the other, not only were we able to light up previously dark, wasted corners, we also created a useful display areas for those carefully chosen kitchen display items that we tend to buy, but often end up being stored away in the cupboard.
