Designing your kitchen could be trusted with two groups of people, either the kitchen re-modelers or you could choose to employ a kitchen designer. However, the specifications of these two groups of people have a huge amount of difference, though they have some some similarities. Generally a kitchen designer will possess better kitchen knowledge in addition to having a wider selection of original layout tips for you new kitchen.
Until a few years ago, modernizing a kitchen meant purchasing a new refrigerator, range, a combination sink and painting the kitchen in a bright, shiny white. We have come a long way in only a few years. The most striking aspect of the contemporary kitchen is its color. White has been displaced by more sophisticated colors. Counter space has been increased. Storage has been engineered to provide maximum use of all available space. Everything is within easy reach. Today's kitchen blends into the home. It is not a room apart, but a part of the home's living area.
Why has this happened? There are too many reasons to list here, but they all seem to relate to time. With the development of the 2 career families and single head-of-household families, there isn't enough time in the day to dedicate a lot of it to cooking. Again, innovations (i.e., microwaves, pre-prepared and frozen foods) have allowed us to spend less time cooking during the workweek. And when we are cooking, we don't want to miss anything that is going on around us. On weekends, we may relax in the kitchen/family room by watching TV or even entertaining friends by cooking elaborate meals.
