Just as fashion has changed over the years, so have kitchens. Designs for modern kitchens 50 years ago were different to what we see today, with the evolution of more technology. Many influences have come from Europe especially Italy, France and Germany. Some people really like to make a statement with their kitchens and go for very bright colours, or unique appliances and accessories. Others prefer a minimalist look and feel, while others still might like the classic or traditional looks.
Door Design: In the past few years, kitchen door designs have become much more simplistic. For contemporary kitchens, the trend has moved towards flat panel doors with no detail. An extension of this is the move towards handless doors, and this is going to continue in 2011 with many more homeowners choosing handless kitchens. Even with classical or traditional kitchen styles, the door designs are more simple than before, with many designers using shaker style doors, even with in-frame kitchens. This gives off a very classic bespoke look.
Materials: Kitchen tiles can be ceramic or porcelain, both of which are more than adequate for domestic use in your own home. Glass mosaic tiles are also suitable for use in the kitchen as a decorative border or stylish splashback. Kitchen floor tiles need to be a stronger material (still ceramic or porcelain) as there will be more traffic and daily use.
